Planner Score (beta): what it is and how it works

Written by Nancy Gates

What is PlannerScore?

Planner Score is a points-based reflection of how complete and active your Boldin plan is. It lives as a bar at the top of your planner: collapsed, it shows your score and a progress bar; expanded, it shows the legs that make up your score and a row of next actions you can take, each worth points. The more of your plan you complete, the more your score grows.

Planner Score is currently in beta. Right now it’s built from two legs—Build (the core information that forms your plan) and Explore (the planning tools and strategies you’ve engaged with)—with 290 points to earn. A third leg, Refresh, is on the way.

Who it’s for

How it works

  1. Find your score. Planner Score sits at the top of your planner. Open it to see your legs and the actions you can take next.

  2. Build your plan. Enter the core information that makes up your plan—your goals, savings, income, expenses, and more. Each one earns 10 points the first time you complete it.

  3. Explore your options. Use Boldin’s planning tools and try out different strategies, like the Social Security Explorer, Roth Conversion Explorer, or Market Risk Explorer. Each one earns 10 points.

  4. Follow Up Next. Expand the bar to see your next actions. Each is worth 10 points and takes you straight to the right place in your planner—complete one and watch your score climb.

  5. Watch your score grow. There are 290 points to earn right now across Build and Explore, with more on the way as Boldin adds new elements—including the Refresh leg.

What earns you points

Every element is worth 10 points, and your score is additive—the points you earn stay with you.

Build

The core information that forms your plan: onboarding basics (your name, date of birth, marital status, retirement goal, and target retirement age) plus your plan inputs (savings, income, expenses, housing, debt, Social Security, medical costs, long-term care, and estate goals and documents).

Explore

The planning tools and strategies you engage with: setting your contributions, excess income, withdrawal strategy, and transfers; building a scenario; running the Market Risk Explorer, Social Security Explorer, or Roth Conversion Explorer; and chatting with Boldin AI.

Refresh (coming soon)

A third leg that will reward keeping your plan current over time. It isn’t part of Planner Score during beta.

FAQs

Where do I find my Planner Score?

It’s a bar pinned to the top of your planner. Collapsed, it shows your score and progress; expand it to see each leg and the next actions you can take.

How high can my score go right now?

During beta, there are 290 points to earn across Build and Explore. That total will grow as Boldin adds new elements—and when the Refresh leg launches.

Does my score ever go down?

Not during beta. The points you earn stay earned. (When Refresh launches, some elements will need a periodic check-in to stay counted—we’ll explain more when it’s available.)

What is Refresh, and where is it?

Refresh is a third leg that rewards keeping your plan current over time. It’s coming in a future release. For now, your Planner Score is made up of Build and Explore.

Do I need a paid plan to have a Planner Score?

No. Planner Score is available to all Boldin members, on any plan tier who have opted into our beta program.
